Linux Server Issues

Hey there everyone! Sorry for the temporary outage!! It looks like my server decided to break itself during a datastore transfer. For some reason the kernel was corrupted/deleted and I had to jump through a bunch of hoops to get everything sorted! Good news is that I finally was able to recover everything, so no harm, no foul.

I’m running Ubuntu 12.4 LTS on this server, but when upgrading to 3.5.0-34 (which is a couple months old at this point) the server decided to break. I used this guide over at StackExchange here to help me get this resolved. It involved downloading an Ubuntu live CD, mounting my LVS partitions, and mapping a couple key directories in order to get apt-get install working again on the main partition instead of on the virtual one created by the installation CD.

I hope this helps someone in my same situation! Thanks to Eliah Kagan for putting the guide together!
